Does Iodine react with Sugar?

I did a lab where I placed drops of Iodine in with the sugar, I wrote there was no reaction or anything, however, I remember last year I did the same thing and I think there was...?

So is there actually a color change? And is this a physical or chemical change?

No it does not. "Sugar" is either one glucose molecule, one fructose, or a two-sugar molecule like sucrose (cane sugar) molecule or lactose (milk sugar). The iodine does not form the same kind of complex. Thestarch-iodine complex is called a clathrate.
