I just don't get Lady Gaga?

It's all based on your era. I was born in the 80's and to me Madonna started it all! Buuuut my mother believes Cher started it all, if you were born in the 90's you probably think Britney Spears is the best, etc. Lady Gaga took all of these to a whole new level. Its always the right time and the right place. People were sick of the fake and unobtainable image that Britney/Christina/etc had portrayed over the last 10 years and we watch them completely fall apart. Lady Gaga was someone who reached out to the non-Britney types to show that even monsters have a sport in the world. Gaga was most likely babied by her gay entourage just like Madonna had in the 80's before watching her best friend die of AIDS which she swore she would never do again. Gaga is young! Look at how Madonna was in the early 80's! Madonna did her own thing, while Britney was literally a "slave" to her management. I am so sick of Gaga myself so I understand... I did get to see her live though, havent seen a show that good since Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour... Saw Britney on the Circus tour - waste of money; was way too staged.

She is the epitome of a pop star who has sold out. Below there's a video of her from before she became Lady Gaga. She was actually good. But instead of going on this way and earning some fame more slowly and earning the millions more slowly, but with artistic integrity, she obviously decided to throw art in the bin and become this strange creature that makes bad music.

That's why I have no respect for her and why I have such great respect for Rufus Wainwright. He has always been himself, always making his own kind of music. He is not as famous among ordinary people and hasn't earned as much money as Gaga, but he is well respected among critics and fellow musicians.

Lady Gaga > Madonna

I have no idea why but I like Lady Gaga!

And I respect what she's trying to do

Just another attention-seeking pop star who claims to be "unique" yet her music is just auto-tuned, recycled garbage that rips off of 80's artists, what's to get? she does it for attention

she's better than some of the rubbish out at the moment. at least she can sing, unlike a whole bunch of other people I can mention.
