Political stunt. As for free speech as I am, this is a joke. These people are protesting wall street, and greed, and they are being paid to do so. Pretending to be backed by the government, when really Wall street and the government have so many backdoor deals it would shock you. Its a political stunt, best way to say it

Occupy Wall St. is a movement by mainly middle and lower class people who are protesting against big banks, big corporations, government bailouts, wealth inequality, and a poor job market. They are against the fact that banks, who are largely responsible for the deteriorating economy, were bailed out by the government under TARP and that corporations get so much welfare and tax breaks. They aren't pleased that 1% of the population controls way more than 1% of the wealth and that they can't get jobs (although admittedly you'd be better served by looking rather than protesting on a street). The problem is that most Americans agree with these grievances, but most Americans don't agree with their demands. They're advocating for a lot of things without real plans, such as punishing banks without any clear idea of how to do so, as well as wiping ALL debt on loans, ignoring the fact that someone somewhere then loses billions of dollars, as well as advocating for free college despite not knowing how to fund for it. If this protest wants to take off on a real scale, they need some concrete plans. I'm not against their right to protest or what they're mad about, but their demands and proto-solutions lack any sort of solvency.
