Why didn't the 49ers make an offer for the Bronco's Brandon Lloyd?

The Rams gave up a 6th (or maybe 5th) round draft in the 2012 draft for a Pro Bowler and Denver's best receiver. The Niners could of used an established veteran like Lloyd to provide leadership and show the ropes for guys like Crabtree. Thoughts?

Update 2:

But they're not giving up any current pieces of the team. Instead, they're adding a proven season veteran receiver who should be able to adapt to any new system fairly quickly.

Update 3:

I agree that Harbaugh is very good at bringing out the best in each player but can you imagine if they had a legitimate passing threat in Lloyd? It would have balanced out their running game with Gore and Hunter, which would have made the 49er's offense even more potent against stronger defensive teams.

He was there once and management ran him out because they thought getting rid of him was the best decision, no way they would have made of move for him. Besides that's the last thing an underachieving Crabtree would of needed.

This question is being asked a lot and I agree they could have used him to beef up there receiver's and be a real threat and if Crabtree gets hurt and he does they will need somebody .

Understand they have a new coach and he is used to being a college coach and they change players every 4 years so he knows best how to build his players and check out the 49er's QB now, he can get the most out of teachable players.

They don't need him. Braylon Edwards is a better receiver than he is and he's coming back next week.
