Metformin and taste changes?

I have been on metformin for 5 days now and my taste is acting funny. A lot of foods are tasting dull kinda like when you have a stuffy nose and everything taste almost bland.Has anyone experienced this on metformin? Or heard of anyone experiencing this?

The pdf file at the drugs@fda website about the brand of Metformin called Glucophage lists taste disorder as a side effect occuring more often than with a placebo, but it is not listed as a common side effect.

To see prescribing information on other drugs (usually they only offer "label information" with brand name drugs) see the drugs@fda website.

I used to screen patients for metformin use before injecting contrast media. No patient ever mentioned this to me, but it isn't something I would have asked about.

I have never had this experience with Metformin, I did find that it increased my appetite
