Is it legal to live without a guardian at 16 years old?
Me, my girlfriend, and a couple of my friends are planing on saving up and moving to Hawaii when we're 16. Would we get arrested and/or sent home? What would happen? And I also read somewhere that its legal to live on your own if your married, is that true?
I don't want to hear about how we're crazy and its a stupid idea and all that crap because I wont listen :)
thanks!
Oh and we currently live in Alaska so we wont need any type of special stuff to leave the country if that affected your answer at all
AND is there any way i could do it without my parents knowing? And to one of the people that answered, im not ****ing my family, It's not like i'm running away to rebel against them or something. My parents are fine, and i would still visit and keep in contact..

Only if you are emancipated (ie legally declared to be an adult by the courts...very hard to do).
"marriage" I don't know of any state that says two people who are not adults can get legally married. I think marriage implies adulthood so I suppose if your state allows you to get married it is the same as legal emancipation.
But yeah if you go to Hawaii to live without someone being placed as your guardian, you are going to be sent home.

Glad to see that you're so open to advice.
Step 1: you won't even be allowed on the plane without parental permission. A boat will be your only option.
Step 2: where do you plan to live? Hawaii is not cheap, and no landlord will rent to you at that age, because you cannot sign a lease
Step 3: It's illegal to live on the beach
Step 4: your parents could, if they chose, have the police throw you on a plane and send you home

Where do you plan to live ? You have to be 18 to rent anything. You can't leave the state without signed parental consent.
BTW, Alaska and Hawaii are in the same country...

It's damn right stupid.
You only have a short time on Earth and as much of that should be spent with your family, my grandfather is currently dying in Hospital from a stroke and I would give anything in the world to have just one more normal day with him, and you want to **** your family and ditch them for a couple of friends and go to Hawaii?
Think this over.

Don't even think about because it will never work, your still a minor so you can't sign anything legal, your parents could be charged knowing they knew about your plan and did nothing. crazy idea so forget it

It i legal to live SEPARATELY from your legal guardians (parents) with their consent. It is not POSSIBLE to not have a legal guardian until you are legally an adult.
Note: Crossing STATE lines without consent of your legal guardian is not legal for a minor.

It is, there's some legal stuff that needs to be dealt with (emancipation) but you could do it. Also, you're a legal adult at 16 in the UK.

If a newborn desires to be emancipated, he/she might might desire to stay in his/her very own place. it quite is the reason of being emancipated to get remote from the guardianship of an person. He/she might might desire to seek for suggestion from criminal authority on a thank you to grow to be emancipated . each and each state has its very own regulations appropriate to this .

No, especially if you are not a US citizen and want to live in the US.
