How do I make my budgie be quiet?
I talked to my mom about getting a budgie, and she said her only concern is that
A) The bird is going to make a mess on the carpet in my room, and
B) She doesn't want my bird waking her up on the weekends when she sleeps in.
Any advice? PLEASE help!

You might really want to think about this one... I have a budgie sitting next to me that is constantly talking, flying or otherwise asking for attention. They are hyper little things! Birds also have a natural sleep/wake cycle that shouldn't be at the whims of their owners who are just trying to keep them quiet. They like to get up with the sun and go t sleep at dark. Will you have a tv or lights that interfere with this? Budgies are also pretty good flyers-- do you have the time to let the bird out several times a day? Mine stay out for a couple hours at a time and cannot be left unattended. You also have to make sure that the windows aren't easy to fly into-- I lost one that flew between the curtain blades and straight into the glass.... it's a really sad way to see them go. Make sure too that you take into consideration how sensitive their little lungs are too-- no perfume, scented lotion, incense, candles or anything that could kill them.

Budgies love attention. I remember when I had a budgie, it loved sitting on my shoulder and getting attention and kisses. I think that you should make sure you can devote enough time to spend with your budgie. Also, a good way to keep your little bird quiet, especially in the morning, is to cover his/her cage at night. As far as the messiness goes, there are seed catchers that can be placed around the bottom on a cage so that not as many seeds fall on the floor.

They are cute little birds and can be quite messy and noisy also.
A) messiness, well just vacuum a bit more.
B) noise level, easy one keep it covered till mom gets up, as long as he thing it is dark he will stay quite.
