Why doesn’t the horrific history of “progressive” thought make liberals stop for a second and question?

The world of liberalism is so mixed up it's hard to analyze these days. First point is that I don't see many Democrats as being true liberals no matter what they call themselves. Adding to the confusion, the original progressive Democrats and the ones you are probably referring to, were in favor of forced sterilization of "undesirables" (often including racial minorities and some Jews) and other somewhat inhumane policies which oddly enough were supported by many of the big bankers. In fact Woodrow Wilson (the President who sold us into debt slavery by signing off on the FED) was a Progressive Democrat.

Today's "Progressive Democrats of America" was founded in 2004. Actually I like that Dennis Kucinich has spoken out against "free trade" (which has neatly sucked trillions of dollars and millions of jobs out of the American economy). I have to tell it like I see it. But overall they seem to be a group that hasn't thought things through very well on a number of important issues. For example, one look at where Obama's campaign money comes from and Obama becomes predictable and obvious. You can see who he works for and what they want from him. Yet this somehow escapes many Democrats and they see Obama as a champion of the working class. Oh well.

Here is your problem. The history of progressive thought is not horrific.

Plus, the stated goals for the progressive caucus in Congress is an exact match for what the majority of Americans want: end the middle east wars, provide health care for all, tax the rich, pro-choice, etc. etc. etc.

You know what's most funny. The majority of people that follow progressives have been oppressed by government or have never achieved a single thing in life.

Liberals by and large don't consider history or facts, they go mostly on feelings and what sounds good to them.
