How to become a certified dog trainer/behaviorist--and advice from people in the field?
does anyone know how to do this? I've heard about the ABC on tv but wanted to know if this was good or not. Also anyone that is currently doing this as a profession if you could give me some insight (pros and cons) I believe that working with animals (specially dogs/puppies) is the only thing that will really make me happy. So any advice is needed! Thank you in advance
where to get the schooling at though? I'm not for sure what KIND of schooling either..
as in needing a degree and such..I know taking some basic animal classes and such would be good..but what else and where

I have seen commercials on TV for Animal Behavior College and they are all over the country.

Keep in mind that training is more than "working with dogs/puppies". There's people involved in that equation as well, and if you do not like dealing with people, you are going to have a hard time making a living doing this. And the dogs you will be working with are NOT going to be the happy, friendly ones. Your clients are going to either be scary aggressive, or probably the extremely shy and timid, and then the ones with more specific phobias. For example, when I first brought a behaviorist in to help with my shy girl, the first meeting involved a lot of brainstorming about how to get her out of the crate and get the crate closed before she could get back inside it, and other general management strategies. I don't think she actually even touched Katie that day. So be prepared for that reality.
