planning a major computer upgrade?
Im planning a upgrade in the near future. First option is to gamble on a fx-8150 and hope the lower than expected benchmarks are more a software issue. Second option, is get maybe an i3-2120 or something with the expectation to get an Ivybridge in the future. Third option is to go with sandy bridge E, maybe a i7-3820 or i7-3930K. Last one is just get an i5-2500k or i7-2600k, which im sorta against because i would rather have something newer . right now the sandy bridge e, or amd options im leaning towards but still not really sure.
i plan to run 2 videocards and im pretty sure i wont be adding a third

I would forget AMD simply because the AM3+ boards are a one shot deal. Next year's piledriver processors will be on the Socket FM2 platform and AMD has not said if FM2 chips will work on AM3+ boards. By the time Windows 8 is finally released AMD's Piledriver processors will be out. I wouldn't hold my breath with AMD promises. Remember when people were telling people to wait for the original Phenom processors and how they would even the odds against the q6600.
The Core i7-3000 chips is a good choice if you want to run multiple graphics cards. Every board will run the first two PCI-E x16 slots at x16/x16 without the help of an NF200 chip. That's mainly because that platform has 40 native PCI-E lanes. The real advantage comes when you want to run 3 cards. If you're doing heavy editing than I feel this is the way to go thanks to the massive memory bandwidth.
I don't see any problem with the 1155 platform if you're just gaming. There's so many things you can do there.

From what is known the i7-2700k is due out soon taking intel sandy bridge a step higher than amd bulldozer ,in which falls short of the i7-2600k, i would wait on the i7-3800 and 3900 series and see what the benchmarks are compare to the second generation amd bulldozers processors, sandy bridge e might be a better choice

The 8150 seems like a gamble that isn't worth taking, especially since AMD is claiming Win7 is the problem that only Win8 can solve. But that doesn't solve the problem with too much power draw and heat issues.
If you want something now then get the 2600k, but if you can wait then wait for the SB-E to see how it stacks up to what out now
