Which side do you think makes more sense during this NBA Lockout?

1) The players, who are requested for a fair bargaining in good faith from the owners. They've lowered their BRI split from 57% down to 53% but the owners want a full even split.

2) The owners, who claim they are losing money, due to bad contracts and the economic downturn. They are the employers who take all the business risk and it's rare that an employee's voice can be on par with the owner in any work environment.

Thoughts?

The players make more sense, but they are no angels either.

Is it the players fault when someone offers you a maximum contract? Are you supposed to say, "Nah, I'd rather have $50 million less than what you offered." The owners made bad decisions by giving bloated contracts to players who didn't deserve them.

In addition, the league made RECORD profits last season. Does that mean every team made money? No. But, that doesn't mean you have to take an enormous chunk from the players (who make billions for you by the way) because of your own bad decisions.

    What up JR,

i think at this point the players make more sens. When you begin a negotiation where it's 57% (where players are at), to 50% (where owners would like to be at)-- the fact that the players are willing to talk and are willing to go down to 53% shows that they have some degree of seriousness to ressolving the deal. And as one other user specifed 4% of 4 Billion is a lot of $$$.

The players can be accused of being "greedy" but at the same time most of the owners are billionaires and do not have all their eggs in one basket. Whereas the players for the most part their entire livelihood comes down to their ability to put a ball through a basket and they are an injury away from all being said and done.

Both sides to some extent are greedy- but it is not just about one year of income- but it's about over the long haul and i think the owners are more at fault and for them to not negotiate to me puts them more at fault at this point of the negotations.

Ultimatley the fans and the employees of the arena and their families suffer the most! If it wasn't college football, nfll and hockey right now- i'd really be sports miserable- but like all other people in this section- we just want to see some good basketball.

the owners, just think about it. the players are willing to take 53% compared to the previous 57%. while this might not seem like a big deal, figure out what 4% of 4 billion dollars is (160 million). the owners are already very wealthy people, and owning a sports team is definitely not their means of income. the owners should stop being stiffs and accept the players 53 and a soft cap.

i think the players are being a selfish they already make an absurd amount of money plus they are putting thousands of normal people out of work.
