does this class as a date?

I told a guy friend who I write to who lives pretty far away from me that I was visiting his area, and he wants to see me, so he suggested going for a long (five hours, more or less) walk in the park or just a walk around. my friends all seem to insist it's a date. I'm kind of put out by that. would you class that as a date?

the letter was really long, but the relevant part is:

With regards to your visit to our nation's excellent capital, would it take your fancy to meet up on Sunday? If I borrow an afternoon of yours, I could repay it with a nice outing to Holland Park or perhaps Hampstead Heath, we'll see about the weather, if all else fails we could find somewhere else indoors, The National Gallery perhaps? The brilliance of London is it offers as many possibilities as there are types of people coming to visit it, even those as unique as yourself. Anyway, I'll see what my friends are doing, and we can text nearer the time, but it would be awesome to see you again!

I don't know, I think he just sounds enthusiastic or something.

    The part I picked out from that is "see you again." The best way to figure out if it's a date, is to remember back to when you met him last, and think about if he seemed interested or not back then. He seems like a gentleman though so it could be either of the cases from the note, but seeing as he is trying to be with you despite whatever happens on that day, there is a pretty good chance.

    who cares what you call it ---- it does not matter ---- all that matters is do you want to be with him or not ??? ---- if you want to then say yes if you dont then say no ---- dont try to label everything ---- who cares if its a date or not as long as you enjoy each others company ---- have fun
