How did Muammar Gaddafi get captured?

From what I know, Qaddafi was hiding in his hometown of Sirte. The US and French fired upon a convoy they saw fleeing the town, not knowing that Qaddafi was in it. He tried to hide in a drainage tunnel but was found by Libyan rebels when they arrived on the scene.

I'm not sure what happened to the rest of Qaddafi's family. Maybe they fled through different routes. Maybe they were injured when the convoy was fired upon. Maybe they continued to flee in the hopes that rebels would continue to chase them instead of checking that particular drainage tunnel.

And he was not hiding in Sirt, he was fighting there. He could have fled to Venzuela, Nicaragua or any other place but he decided to stay and fight against the rats/trairtors.

He has been killed dear. He was missing of course but the man who has been killed is the real Muammar Gaddafi. Check the two sties from the source for further details and pics to confirm.
