Can someone please explain to me why the NBA is in talks?

I have read articles but just do not get it. thanks

    The owners don't want to pay a lot to the players. The players wan't more money. So theres no games unless they agree of salries and revenue sharing.

    they are in a lockout. The team owners and players are arguing about what percentage of money the players will get on their new contract. Until they make an agreement, there won't be any games.

    There is a lockout. Players and managers are talking to come up with an agreement to get out of the lockout.
