How can I improve the battery backup of my DELL Studio 1557?

It might sound silly cause I have been using this battery (6-cell Li-ion) for a while and it has been charged-discharged almost everyday for a yr and a half that's 18 months so most probably it is out of life ... and my laptop keeps on nagging to buy new batteries. Now is there any way to improve the backup of this battery even a bit so that i can get at least 1 hr back up until i buy new ones (i now have only 32 min backup at 100% at best) ???

    Unfortunately, the answer is no!

That's the downfall of every laptop.

this is for real: if you're a techy you can replace the individual cells inside

    THIS IS A JOKE:

Step 1: open up the compartment where you find the cells in series

Step 2: Safely recycle the cells and buy new ones

Step 3: replace them and hot glue the case back together

Step 4: Throw it against the wall, then smash it with a hammer

Step 5: Light it on fire and throw your cat into the combustion

Step 6: Take a nice slow snort of the fumes and call 911 for lithium poisoning

The joke was just to make you laugh, the steps 1-3 are real, just look it up on kipkay.com

*EDIT* Don't put it in the freezer if it's not mercury!!!!!

While I haven't tried this personally, you can try placing the battery in the freezer for 24 hours.

If you try this I would place it in a plastic bag and inside of a class container for a few reasons. First off, the plastic bag will prevent moisture in the freezer from affecting the battery. Second, it will contain anything should the battery be damaged and burst.

Yes go into power options and set it to reserve battery and less power usage
