Hey. Ive been in color guard for 7 seasons. I say go for it. Color guard is a lot of fun, really. Winter guard, in me experience, is A LOT more fun then marching guard. It is more dance, and a lot harder work, plus the comeptitions are more interesting. Its hard work, but very fun. people might think you're gay, but so what? If they ask, deny it, and thats that. Dont let pressure get you, and join if you want to.
At first, you learn the basics, and it gets kind of boring. The first season of marching guard is the worst. You learn, learn, and learn. You'll think you suck, and you'll get tired of it. Winter guard coems, and you dont want to join, but you do. Join, and you'll love it. The first season sucks and will wear you out. Just bear with it, and later you'll be so excited to spin.

I am a new color guard member and I started this year. It's really fun and you don't have to know anything to join. When I joined, I had no idea how to spin a flag or throw a rifle (I still don't know but I will learn it soon XD). First, they teach you the basics and then you learn the routines. But You have to be willing to give up some of your time to go to competitions and football games. There are many events you go to (field show competitions, football games, winter guard, parades,etc.). And who said you have to be gay to join it. Just because you are a guy in color guard, that doesn't mean you are gay. and if you join, I bet the color guard girls will love you. Well, I hope I kind of helped :D

Have fun with it. If its your rookie year, it will be hard at first but practice and keep working at it and it will be one of the most fulfilling things you do in school. Don't let the guys in school pick on you either. Some of the best guard members I know are guys :).
