How long does it take for an ear piercing to heal?
I pierced my cartilage with a sewing needle and every time I try to put the ring in, it closes. When will it not close up immediately so I can put in the ring?

I never had an ear piercing, but I had an eye piercing. It takes around 4-6 weeks, if not 8 weeks, for it to be healed. Just leave it alone and clean it every now-and-then.

Lobes take 4-6 weeks to fully heal.
Cartilage takes 6 months.
Sewing needle are usually 20g. Earrings are normally 18g, sometimes 16g.

try getting it done professionally
I have pierced ears and have never worn earrings and they have never closed
