Tennis forehand advice, grip change?

I'm changing my forehand grip as I realized having a semi western grip was making me rim the ball too often, I'm now changing it too eastern forehand in the hope of more consistency. However when i play with this grip it feels awkward and because the racquets more open I keep hitting it way too high, any suggestions of things i could do to get used to this grip quicker?

hey, all you can really do is practise with it. maybe if it feels too uncomfortable use a grip inbetween the two and then it won't feel as strange when you are using the eastern forehand (:

i coach at a centre and i say to anyone who wants to change their grip it will feel strange but it's often worth changing but just go for something in the middle, go bit by bit.

Theres really nothing you can do besides play more with the eastern grip. I have also tried switching from my semi western to an eastern but it just doesn't seem to work. The eastern grip will feel very very awkard and your going to have to learn to close the face on your own more and brush up for heavy spin. Becareful your not arming it though because it will put stress on your shoulder.

You just have to practice! When the ball goes high like that, it shows that you are doing the eastern forehand grip correctly!! Just practice, and give yourself time to get used to it :)

    Good Luckk :)

When I teach someone (children who aim to be competitive players) I start with eastern forehand and progress to semi western.

In your case is digression from semi western to eastern. In your case I would stick with semi western. To avoid rim balls keep your racket perpendicular to a ball.

If you change be aware that muscles memorised one grip and they need time to change to the other one

you want the racquet to be open ,but if you swing up and roll your tennis racquet over your shoulder it should give you some speed and a nice spin : )
