Is anybody really helped by Yahoo answers, Do they care? Or is it just a game?

By Looking @ Q&A's I find a lot of nonsense answers. Some really bad others good. If you are just going for points there is a lot of other games. If it is a social network likewise you can find other forums more satisfying. So-ooo give me some insight.  I am curious. I joined because I thought people were in serious need of answers. Was I wrong?

You  will  find  that  many  long  time  users  are  here    because  they  do  like  helping  others  and  do  not  consider  it  a  game  at  all.
 There  are  many   young  lower  level  users that  do  think  it  is  a  game and  all  about  points  not  giving  quality  answers at  all. 
Many  come  here with  Yahoo  being  linked to  Twitter  and  Facebook  and  really  do  think  it  is  another   chat  social  site  and  get upset  when  the learn  there  are  rules to  follow  about  chatting  with  others.
 If  you  see  a  nonsense  answer  or  rude  insulting  answers  they  can  and  should  be  reported  as  violations. Most  high level  T/C's  will  allow  emails  and  you  can  email   them  for  help,  most  are    very  helpful  to  new  users   that  truly  want  to  do  the  right  thing.

For many egocentric jealous, and paranoid people who have self-respect, or respect for any one else, it's just a game where they get to show off how smart they THINK they are, until some on who is smarter or just as smart as they are understands that the name of  the game is  ONLINE ABUSE and getting away with it most of the time is just part of the fun. A few people really DO want to answer questions and help other people, but many of those people are harassed so viciously by jealous trolls that they eventually give up and go to other forums. Take a look at the Yahoo message boards, the science message boards, and see how long there has been NO activity on them. I've seen some neighborhood forums essentially die, because the only action on them is a jealous troll attacking another jealous troll on the weekend when they get bored.http://www.buildingreputation.com/doku.php?id=Chapter_10

Well dear, some people on here are really devoted to answering your question, like me. 

But others...others say things to be cool, mean, or just plain rude! 

Some treat it like a game. Others act like a smart-alec. But as you can see there are some good people too.
