msi N560GTX installing 6 pin connectors to molex?

This graphics card has 2 suplementary 6 pin power connectors. Do I have to connect both power connectors to run this card. This would mean using 4 molex connections. 1 six pin connects to 2 molex

http://www.geforce.com/Hardware/GPUs/geforce-gtx-5...

or can I just run the card totally off the pcie slot - as the manual suggests.

Update:

thanks everyone, what I was considering was disconnecting everything but the graphics card, and running of a 450watt PSU - you have convinced me to wait for a new psu and be thankful I didn't ask Aaron a silly question like how to copy and paste.

Dude don't run it without a good power supply. I have the same card. I am using a Cooler master GX750 to run it.

If you are using it with out the 2 supplementary 6 pin power connectors your card will not work with any of the games, and even it will not work more also.

So please use a good PSU while using it.

Now will come to the technical part of it

See that this card use 150 watts while idle and a maximum of 320 watts while intensive graphics game play as per the reviews. So your PCI express slot will be delivering a power supply of 75 Watts through its connectors, do you think it will be sufficient for it?..No it will not. So if you are not using a supplementary power connector you can't run it.

Don't use the molex to 6 pin connectors. It will be giving more heat at the connectors and which will decrease the efficiency and also the current flow, which can lead to the failure of your card.

Try to find out the Current available in your +12V rail of your power supply before doing anything. If its not 30 Amps minimum go for a new PSU (Branded) with at least 550 Watts, single rail (the best for gamer's) with a minimum of 2 6pin or 8 pin connectors.

    ********

Try to take branded one and see that enough power availability otherwise you are going to burn up your processor and other valuable parts along with you graphics card.

You only use the molex adapters if your power supply doesn't have the 6-pin PCI-E connectors. The card will not operate without them plugged in. If your power supply doesn't even have the 6-pin connectors, then it's probably a cheap piece of sh!t PSU.

Of course you can't run it completely off the PCIe slot! Your power supply should have at least one 6 or 8 pin PCIe connector. If doesn't even have one then you should probably replace it.

It particularly relies upon on the common / skill output of the PSU. Given you have an 800w and it particularly is from a very good variety like ThermalTake, i might say you're good. regardless of the incontrovertible fact that in case you place up the particular variety huge variety we'd be waiting to determine.

spend $1.99 on a simple plug in adapter poof done~

Source(s): or you can simply do 300 other things that will basically technically confuse the crap out of the question cost a lot and pretty much do same job in the end anyway... * thought for the day: overclockers synonym for over thinkers....
