i dont know anything about ipods, but the error is essentially this
if you plug in a USB device it very often is seen by windows as just a Drive.
like a USB memory stick
for windows to SEE it. The memory has to be firstly Partitioned using
Disk Management, and then Formatted to FAT32 usually.
now doing that will WIPE and BLANK the drive.
remember im a PC person not an IPOD person....dont do any
of this if you subscribe to itunes
really you need to go to apple forums so see below
if you understand this then you may want to do this.
on the other hand if you have spent hours shoving recordings on it
then its the very last thing that you want to do.
===============================================
so what next, well if i were you i would read up on how to use
this kit with a pc, and make sure you havnt missed anything out.
if its new and you just want to start using it, and you are just gonna use
it with your pc then read on
right click my_computer and choose MANAGE
on the left hand side Click DISK MANAGEMENT
*** be very careful this has the power to ersae EVERYTHING on your pc ***
now on the right you will see all your Disks, including something for your IPOD.
select the IPOD disk, and then create a partition on it, and then format it FAT32.
then get out qick before you do anything to your other disks.
thats it done.
you ipod is now ERASED and ready for music.

Would be easier if you said which OS you are using. I am on my Windows 7 computer so I will tell you for that. Vista will be almost, if not exactly the same, and XP will be very similar. Start, All Programs, Expand the Administrative Tools Folder. Click Computer Management and Disk Management in the pane on the left. Right click on the ipod there and left click Change Drive Letter And Paths. Follow the prompts from there. With XP you will go Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management. Then just follow the above instructions from that point on. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
