I have lots of Windows 95 software but upgraded to Vista Home Edition. Will Vista run that software?

I don't want to try before being informed and being hit with unwelcome consequences.

Update:

Oh, I did get an new computer from the 95 one, which I no longer have.

Yes it is possible, but nothing can be said for sure. Windows Vista and Windows 7 both provide compatibility mode for running older software starting from Windows 95 times. Just right-click on a program, choose Properties and then choose compatibility mode for Windows 95. It may work or it may not work, but its worth a try :)
