Why Canada domestic flights are this expensive?
Hello, am planning to fly from vancouver to calgary(Banff), calgary to toronto, then toronto to new york(jfk is more preferable) in the late Jan, 2012, each place for a 2-3 days stopover. The mentioned 3 single flights cost about 700USD, that's crazy! I know there is greyhound bus available too, but that's the last choice cause it takes very long time. Do you have any ideas? Thanks guys!
Hello guys, thanks very much for your answers and i appreciate them all. And yes, correction: toronto to new york flight is international. Ok, since the flights inside canada or to usa are so expensive, are there other cheaper destinations that i can fly to from vancouver? Mexico? The flight leaves vancouver should be on jan 25, and goes back to new york finally on jan 28/29, 2012. Any itinerary will be welcome, Thanks again.

What you are buying is a multi-segment flight so it will be pretty expensive. Flying out of Vancouver is not cheap because Air Canada has the most flights and there is not that much competition from the other airlines.

lots of this is going to matter on the position you're going and what airplane you're flying. At those expenses i'd anticipate you're getting in economy besides the indisputable fact that Continental is having a large organisation classification sale ideal this second--- if the places and dates artwork, then for sure organisation classification is going to be a much more advantageous adventure than any of those airways in coach. That suggested, and assuming you're flying economy, i imagine there's no important, significant transformations between the yankee-depending airways; the seats will all be a touch cramped after an 8-hour flight, and the savor your flight will count number to a large volume on the flight crew. you're in basic terms as in all danger to get a extreme-high quality, polite flight crew as a snarky one on any of those airways. The food will be underwhelming yet not flat-out gross, and there'll be inflight leisure yet with out understanding the airplane form and the vacation spot, that's only a guess over it being own television's at each and each and every seat, or one communal show screen for staring at video clips. i'd bypass each and each and every of the yankee-depending vendors besides the indisputable fact that and flow with Air Canada. you'll regularly hit upon a hihger factor of provider and larger high quality of product (airplane convenience and cleanliness, to boot as food and leisure options) by technique of going with a non-US provider for the time of the Atlantic. Swiss is meant to have a extreme-high quality product to boot, yet are a touch smaller even as it consists of the transatlantic route; Air Canada could have a more advantageous robust fleet of planes and hence more advantageous concepts in getting you transported, might want to something unpredicted ensue.

Since you are going on a one way its this expensive . Add a return leg n the price will be much lower... In case you dont want a return leg, its ok.. u can still add a return leg, just leave it n try to use it at a later time if its changeable. If not, u can just refund the extra taxes. It wont be much of a refund, but adding an extra leg will reduce the price... why do u need a refund in the first place.

Go to Westjet's website and calculate the best deal on the specific days you want to travel from one point to another...then call Westjet's sales center at 1-888-westjet (1-888-937-8538) and ask them what the best fare they can give on this is-fare prices are usually calculated by zone-that is-the further away your destination is the cheaper it is to fly per mile(if you were flying to New York in one day while the distance is the same, the fare would be lower,right?)...ask them about it...it can't hurt.

1. That's not a domestic flight.
2. It's a long distance.
3. JFK is the least convenient airport.
