Where do I go to sell old books? I am talking books from the 1890's ?

A friend of mine had given me some books and I would like to discover where I could sell them.

    Hi Robert,

You could sell the books on Ebay..That way people will bid on them..Sometimes you will get more money that you thought you would get..Or you could search the Internet for people who buy or collect old books..Good luck.. You didn't say what kind of books you are selling..Maybe some of us here would be interested..

I would find used bookstores. Take them around to a few of them and see what they say you can get for them and see if any of them are interested in buying them. I'm not sure about eBay. Older books might be a harder market on eBay since there is no way to check the quality of the book online. I would definitely do a search for the books and see if any have sold (check "completed listings" - you will need an account to do that) or if any are currently listed.

Just know that if you do sell them to a use bookstore, you will likely get less than what they are worth simply because a dealer cannot pay the full worth of the book then turn around and sell it for profit. Of course, there is also no guarantee you can get what it's worth on eBay either since it's an auction. Selling to a dealer - as long as they are not completely low-balling you - is guaranteed cash in hand.
