1995 Ford Ranger XLT won't turn over. ?

My 95 ford ranger XLT will not turn over. It used to turn over and just not crank, but now it's gone downhill and won't even try anymore. It used to break down a lot and i replaced the fuel filter. It worked for a while but now it does not. The battery will also not take a charge for a jump. I can still turn on the lights and listen to my radio though. I'm starting to think I need to replace the battery, but I'm not sure if that's the fix. It used to click when I turned the key, but now it won't even do that. Also, sometimes when I turn the key, the locks on the doors automatically go up and down. Any ideas of what the problem is? Or was I right about replacing the battery? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

check to make sure your battery connections and starter connections are not corroded and clean them anyways. From there move on to checking neutral switch or clutch switch (power going to starter solenoid) and then if starter solenoid is getting power replace starter.

If your lights and radio work, batter is fine cause the alternator runs by the serpentine belt which is connected to the crankshaft which needs battery power. It's starter. Replace it.
