Wow, Jake! As a Christian I have always believed looking at the long history of the Middle East the births of Isaac and Ishmael have had a devastating effect in the political, physical and religious world of the world.

Abraham had only ONE wife, Sarah the mother of Isaac. She was infertile and at the age of about 90 she mourned the fact that she was unable to give Abraham a son. In her mind the only recourse was to offer her Egyptian maid, Hagar as a substitute and as a result we know of the birth of Ishmael. Yes, he was the first born which is important, however, illegitimate after the miracle birth of Isaac later. Since Isaac was the son of Abraham and Sarah this determines Isaac's legitimacy. It is the same today. This is the biblical description of Ishmael, "He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers." Gen.16:12 We see this every day when we read about the continuing conflict against Israel's Jews. Brother against brother!

This is the key to understanding the Middle East conflict today. Both Jews and Muslims today and for centuries have engaged in a conflict over the right to inhabit the lands in the Middle East. That brings us to the Abrahamic Covenant. There are three main features to the Abrahamic Covenant:

    1. The promise of land (Genesis 12:1). The dimensions are given in Genesis 15:18 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi[a] of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— 19 the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, 20 Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, 21 Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.”

    2. The promise of descendants (Genesis 12:2). God promised Abraham that He would make a great nation out of him. Abraham, who was 75 years old and childless (Genesis 12:4), was promised many descendants. This promise is amplified in Genesis 17:6 where God promised that nations and kings would descend from the aged patriarch.

    3. The promise of blessing and redemption (Genesis 12:3). God promised to bless Abraham and the families of the earth through him. The unconditional and eternal nature of the covenant is seen in that the covenant is reaffirmed to Isaac (Genesis 21:12; 26:3–4). The “I will” promises suggest the unconditional aspect of the covenant. The covenant is further confirmed to Jacob (Genesis 28:14–15). It is noteworthy that God reaffirmed these promises amid the sins of the patriarchs, which fact further emphasizes the unconditional nature of the Abrahamic Covenant.

    edit:

For centuries wars have been fought for possession of the "land" Crusaders, Muslims and Jews. In today's world we have the conflict over Palestine which is the cognate of an ancient word meaning or "Land of the Philistines". The Philistines were sea faring people of Greek origin. The Hebrew name Peleshet (פלשת Pəléshseth)- usually translated as Philistia in English, is used in the Bible to denote the southern coastal region that was inhabited by the Philistines to the west of the ancient Kingdom of Judah. Following the fall of Jerusalem as a result of the Bar Kobah Revolt 70 A.D. the Romans renamed this area Syria Palaestina. This area was never called Palestine prior to this time.

So the question remains, who does this area of the world belong to, the residents of the West Bank or Israel? Consider the fact that is was Greek sailors who originally inhabited and colonized it and they were neither Arab or Muslim. According to the title deed of God to Abraham it rightfully belongs to Israel. I would also like to point out, when the Jews first made the aliyah (return) it was prior to the Holocaust and these refugees invited the Arab people living there to stay. Please check out the role of Haj Al Amini and his persecution of the Jews as an active supporter of Nazism and Hitler.

in worry. each time a protection tension invaded Israel, the outcomes have been 1000's of murdered jews, and their belongings replaced into pillaged. it occurred with arab conquests, christian conquests, turkish conquests etc. jews back then weren't element of any protection tension potential, no longer the turks and not egyptians so as that they have got been purely caught interior the middle. the undertaking is that many egyptians immigrated to israel, and are not prepared to return residing house on a similar time right this moment.

Jake, You mean to tell me you are against Israel being compassionate enough to give some of their land to Palestinians so they can give refuge to Hamas and be constantly hammered with rocket fire like is the situation in the Gaza strip ?

Where is your compassion ! Them there Palestinians are a peace loving bunch who simply want to coexist with Israel in the middle east. Which is why they were passing out maps at a recent UN meeting showing no Israel and a Palestinian state where Israel use to be.
