How to investigate new inventions ?

If , by some small chance , i have an idea that may be profitable, and may help folks on the road ways, how do I find a trustworthy patent lawyer that will not take my idea and ripp me off ? Not just lawyers, but any one that is not honest?

Thanks for all you help in this regard.

Warmly, john

Update:

Sorry, spelling and grammar. Not sure of how to spell, " Ripp", as in " Ripp you off !" And, i misspelled "Your", as in , "Thanks for all YOUR help ..." Sorry - tired , and worked all day. Thanks.

Most lawyers make money being lawyers and don't really want to spend time developing and idea to rip off a client. I would think most patent lawyers would be safe from that perspective.

Consulting engineering firms often do product testing and/or development. These are professionals, generally, that are at little risk for stealing some idea.

However, once it is on the market, you can bet somebody somewhere will copy it if it is successful. Before that point, you probably don't have much to worry about. Just be ready to sell as many as you can sell and do so quickly.
