Those "radiators" are just space heaters. They get hot because electricity goes through a resistance element. 1500w of electricity becomes about 5120 btu of heat, that's it. Brand names won't make a lick of difference how much heat they make, and frankly the features aren't likely to be very distinctive either - there's a good chance they're made in the same Chinese factory.

A heat pump is a different animal altogether. It doesn't make heat, it moves it. A heat pump takes heat from one place and puts it in another. In the winter, the difficulty is the heat pump is trying to pull heat from the air outside - where there's not a lot of heat left - and put it inside. In temperate climates the heat pump can get a lot done, but if it's much cooler than 40 degrees or so outside, the heat pump can't help you much.

Don't spend the nine in the EdenPure. Just look for reviews. I was considering one.

Electricity converts to heat with a virtual 100% efficiency. Thus, simple cheap heaters from box stores are sufficient room heaters. I like our heater similar to this one: http://homedepot.digby.com/homedepot/product/detai...

That said, you can get cheaper heaters. Most are rated for 1350 or 1500 watts, which is the most you'd want on a household circuit. 1500 watts of heat is 1500 watts of heat is 1500 watts if heat. Example: our RV air conditioner gas a 1500 watt heating strip. Because the unit moves so much air, the air doesn't feel warm. However, it keeps the camper relatively warm.

Electric space heaters are very expensive to operate. Electricity is 4 to 10 times more expensive than gas. Oil is almost as expensive.
