Does the LA Metro Transit take pennies?

I've taken the 720 many times. Legally, they are supposed to take them. However, in reality, some drivers may give you a very hard time. I've seen it before, especially if the bus is crowded, and people are trying to get on. If you're holding up the line, dropping pennies into the box, you're going to get dirty looks. I've had to squeeze my way past people doing that, flashing my pass. Drivers hate it, just so you know.
