If I attach a 2A power adapter to my 4-port USB hub, will it evenly distribute 500mA max to each port?

It's not for charging any mobile device, just to attach keyboard and mouse etc to my laptop

Most likely the hub would distribute power to the ports according to the needs of whatever is connected to the ports, up the maximum the hub can supply.

Anyway, the 2A power refers to the total output of the power supply, not the power available to individual USB ports or to the sum for all 4 ports. The components inside the hub would also use some of that power too.

possibly no longer, The gadget maximum in all threat has a voltage regulator besides the indisputable fact that it is going to reason the gadget to run hotter than it often does, likely reducing gadget life. i does no longer reccomend it. Edit: If the hub doesnt have a voltage regulator then you definately will burn out the hub and each thing appropriate to it.
