depends on the situation. If he is going through a tough time for example a family member in the hospital or death, then no. If he just out of the blue quit talking to you and then when you tried talking to him he responded with leave me alone, then my guess is that he is too afraid of telling you its over and he is trying to get you to do his dirty work.
