I think for sure it's a dkmv (dick move). I worked in the service industry and I swear the tension could be felt in the room when the staff realized someone walked through the door minutes before turning the open sign to closed. I read this and thought it was such a dkmv that I shared your question on the official dick move site http://dkmvs.com/posts/355.

The only way that's ok is if it's fast food and you order it to go or in the drive thru, because those places can usually get your food prepared in five minutes or less, and as long as you order to go, you won't be keeping the staff there late. But if you mean actually going to a sit down restaurant 5 minutes before close, that is just plain rude! It can take the cook as long as 20 minutes to make your food, and your server of course has to stay and wait on you until you leave. You're just delaying the staff from being able to do their remaining sidework and could be keeping them an hour or more past when they normally are able to go home!

Very. I've been that waitress who had to stay and the cooks sometimes take out the whole thing on the server cause they don't want to stay. Even worse on a weekend when people try to make plans.

it could go either way. Do you know when that place closes, if yes, than yeah, it's a dick move

For the workers, yes, this is a bad move. They have to stay until you go. Yes, I agree.

Yes I do. Unless you're only staying for 5 minutes...then fine, coo.
