Best way to test for cancer is to have a whole body CT (cat) Scan. If you have any persistent symptoms like a cough that has lasted longer than three weeks, reduced appetite, persistent body pain especially around the abdominal area or blood in the urine or even yellowing of the skin then go to your GP and ask to be sent for a CT scan and x-ray. Blood tests can however show other things like if certain enzymes are high/low in the liver which can sometimes suggest cancer. MY BEST ADVICE TO EVERYONE is if you are worried then go to your GP and ask to be send for tests, they are normally done the same day at most hospitals. (my advice is never go to a hospital on a Monday as Monday is the day when everyone turns up for tests following the weekend) We found that out the hard way with my grandad!

It depends what your blood is tested for, it wont be tested for cancer specific markers as this would only be requested if cancer was suspected. A full blood count can show signs of haematological malignancies but generally, no it wont show up.

There's no such thing as a general blood test -
if you want to find out if you have a specific disease or condition, you need to have a blood test specific to that disease or condition.
Some conditions cannot be diagnosed by blood tests, but only by scans or other ways of examination.
Speak to your doctor about your concerns
