vauxhall corsa starting trouble?
My 98R reg corsa merit 12v 1litre seems a bit reluctant to start sometimes. Key turns etc but engine slows and stops. A few revs on the peddle seems to get it going and sometimes its fine. Any ideas?
So after some experimentation it seems to only be when the car has been still for a while, does that help?

Why are people suddenly starting to mis-spell the word 'pedal'?
Anyway, the starting issue could be lots of things from a terminally sick engine with low compression (not uncommon on a 1 litre Corsa, to simply needing a service.

Corsas are conventional to be bothered by crank shaft sensor issues. whilst this sensor fails the engine will crank and crank and crank yet in no way fireplace. That does not clarify why your engine has unexpectedly stopped cranking, yet could desire to you have flattened your new battery? inspite of the reality which you have gotten burnt out your starter motor - they are actually not designed for consistent relentless cranking. If it quite is all ok you could desire to return to fundamentals. verify the gasoline pump relay is energising once you turn the ignition on. verify the gasoline pump is priming verify which you have skill to the coil p.c..(s) verify which you have spark

sounds like something needs servicing. is there a good spark at plugs? is airfilter cleanish ? maybe a faulty sensor. it may be a familiar problem and as soon as u mention it to a garage they will say' oh thats the thingy in the wotsit gone. its a common problem to 98 corsas.'
