As someone said, you should not make much of a change in your horse's diet as it is not safe. Horse's have a delicate gastric system and food changes take 10-14 days. Some nice carrots and apples in addition to the regular feed would be good. You have to remember, that you are the only one that realizes that this is a treat for the holiday for your horse. Your horse cannot appreciate that as it is only for your benefit. It is a nice thought but totally human in origin and understanding.

Whatever you do, you should NOT give your horse a bran mash as it is not good for your horse. Some feel bran has a laxative effect on horses and while it does cause a loose stool, it is not because it is a laxative, it is because bran severely irritates the lining of the intestinal tract. There is so much misinformation out there about bran and horses but it is not recommended. If you want to give a warm mash, just add warm water to the regular feed but forego the bran as it is very bad for your horse. No horse should be given bran on a regular basis as it causes a number of disorders and it should never be given to young horses that are still growing as the problems it causes for them can effect them the rest of their lives.

So, I would do good fruit and veg. Happy turkey and Merry Christmas.

Every year on Christmas and Thanksgiving we give our horses a nice warm bran mash. It's good for them too because if they where sick they would need to have a bran mash. Anyway, you can buy a bran mash mix at your local feed shop. Add some salt, carrots and apples to the mix. Not too much though, because it could make your sick and colic. This occasionally treat is perfect for your horse.

I give my horse a warm peppermint bran mash. Not too much just about a cup or two. I melt the little peppermint candies in warm water and mix with the bran. He also loves watermelon as well as apples so sometimes I cut up some apples, add some watermelon and mix it with molasses and add oatmeal. He goes crazy for it.

whats up there! listed right here are a number of the flaws my good has executed in the previous and what we are making plans to try this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Halloween: -we are all going to dress our horses up and have a dress contest. Me and my gray (especially much white) pony are going to be honest princesses! My sisters halfllinger is going to be a barbie together with her, someones morgan is going to be an previous woman, and yet another guy or woman is going to be a cowgirl together with her horse. -candy relay race: you weave by cones and hop over a bounce. Then grab a chew of candy from a bag and race back. as quickly as your back you dismount and then your companion is going. -Stall Trick or Treating: we r going to place candy in a bucket close to each horses stall so we are able to bypass trick or treating. -occasion: basically a barn halloween occasion with video games, candy, and cakes Christmas! -wintry climate tutor the place you could tutor off what you have been engaged on -A wreath on all the gates and doorways -jars the place you could put in peppermints on your horse or your widespread horse -stacking putting exterior each and each horses stall to place small supplies on your horse in! -garland around their necks whilst driving wish this gave you some good recommendations! holidays are continuously plenty relaxing!

add extra apples and carrots to her usual feed. changing her food completely and suddenly may well give her colic, so don't do it!
