My computer wont detect my flash drive?

I have used many USB products, and I know that Windows XP is supposed to recognize them automatically and install the drivers for the product. Today I got a new USB flash drive, plugged it in, and nothing happened. I plugged it into another computer with windows xp and it worked fine. Why did my first computer not recognize it and how do I fix that error??? Thanks....

note: it does not also appear on disk management

Update:

I've already tried different ports and it still doesn't work.

Update 2:

@Jim- I already tried and restarted my computer that but it didn't work

Update 3:

sorry that message was actually for Not.

@Jim- it's not listed in the disk management as i said in the description.

When you connect a new USB device to a computer that has no USB devices, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 may not detect the new device.

To have us fix this problem for you, go to the “Fix it for me” section. If you'd rather fix this problem yourself, go to the “Let me fix it myself” section.

Windows may be trying to assign a drive letter that is already taken. Go into computer management (right click my computer and select manage). On the left select disk management under storage. Now plug in your USB drive and see what letter it assigns it. If that letter is already taken then select the drive and change the letter to something not in use.

Plug it in a different USB port and if it still doesn't work then check whether the USB ports are opened or not.
