Friend's dog has swollen lifeless foot. Doesn't act like it hurts, what's up?

Examining it, no wounds, cuts, fever. Very swollen foot, he doesn't move it at all, even when you move it around, no response in the foot. He acts fine, doesn't act like it hurts at all, but he doesn't walk on it, just sort of drags it along. From the ankle down. Front foot. Just started yesterday, and he is 10 years old.

My first guess is there is a break in a bone, probably caused by bone cancer.

I had a Border Collie that was holding up a hind leg one morning.

I called my vet, they suspected it was an ACL injury and tole me to just

keep her quiet. She did not act painful at all.

Later there was swelling in her lower leg, so I took her to the vet.

Imagine my surprise when the vet discovered she had a broken leg

because it was eaten up by bone cancer.

The next day she had her leg amputated.

She did great for 9 more months and then was put down due to the cancer.

I would never do that again though because it was way too much money for the

short time I had her for afterwards.

Knowing more information about your environment and dog such as breed and health history would definitely help answer your question. Unfortunately, no one will be able to diagnose the condition until it is seen. There are millions of possibilities and it could be something as simple as a sprain to something more extreme like bone cancer. However, you always want to rule out the more reasonable first. Don't just assume your dog has some kind of terrible condition, but don't delay taking him/her to a vet either.

If it became warm outdoors she at an old age could have warmth stroke and that could kill. never enable them to outdoors interior the warmth. What you're able to do is provide her cool moist towels round her neck and face, no ice regardless of the shown fact that. moist her gently and help her calm down and don't enable her out interior the warmth despite if she desires to circulate. What you're able to do is enable her out to circulate yet convey her into the homestead in a funky place. provide her chilly water despite if she would not choose it, a minimum of it relatively is there. She would possibly not consume as whilst they get warmth stroke, at that age she would be able of die. If she is status, positioned a funky towel on her to chill out her down and shop doing it until the panting is over and shop an eye fixed on her.

A vet is the only one who can make a correct diagnosis, and prescribe treatment.

it's nerves are probably not working and he bumped it into something which might've caused a massive blood flow to the foot that caused the swelling.
