I'm Thinking About Getting Contacts?
Tomorrow, I go to the eye doctor. I am going to talk about getting contacts. I have never worn contacts and no nothing about them. Could you please tell me anything and everything about them!
Thank You!

There are 3 steps to getting contacts: Having the eyes measured and discussing the contact lens options with the doctor. Learning how to put them on and remove them. This is often called an I&R. The optician will teach you how to do this in a special "class". Finally a recheck is done after you have had a chance to wear the lenses for about a week. The doctor will determine if the lens fit is acceptable, and write a final contact lens prescription. People normally place an order for a supply of lenses on this visit.
Almost everyone these days uses soft lenses. Soft lenses come in two styles: Those that correct for astigmatism (Toric) and those that don't (Spherical). Sometimes trial lenses are not available on the same day and need to be ordered. This delays the process.
The frequency of replacement is the next thing to consider. If money is not a concern or if you don't plan to wear them everyday, single use disposable lenses are the best. Most people however will be using either a monthly replacement or 2 week replacement contact lens. Usually doctors try to avoid confusing you by choosing their most success option first, but letting them know your concerns and plans are important.

Hi I got contacts in July and they are awesome.
Basically it's just a piece of material that goes on your eye. You have to kinda touch your eye to put it in and hold your eyes open and tear up a bit. You can't sleep in them (well you shouldnt haha)
The first thing my eye doctor told me when I went to get contats was to only listen to what he had to say about contacts for how I should do it so I do it right for my eyes. So...
