Yes, there are western suburbs. Aurora, Naperville, Wheaton, St. Charles, and Elgin are all pretty sizable western suburbs. The place that is commonly considered the end of suburbia is Highway 47, which would make Pingree Grove, Campton Hills, Elburn, Sugar Grove, and Yorkville the furthest west suburbs. The suburbs between 55 and 90 would be considered western suburbs if you want to look at a map to see where they are.

Yes, there are plenty of Western suburbs in what we refer to as "Chicagoland". As other posters have pointed out, I do believe Yorkville is the farthest west (but I would not want to live there because it's so far out from the city center). The Western suburbs begin with Oak Park (only 10 minutes West of downtown Chicago) and go as far out as over an hour West towards Yorkville. In my opinion, the Western suburbs are more scenic and have better schools than their southern counterparts. The Northern suburbs are the the best of them all, and have the highest cost of living as well. Of course, Chicago is a big city, and like any other big city, there are at least some shady pockets in every direction.

The furthest west suburb of Chicago is Yorkville, IL. Yorkville is made up of the fox river, corn, and big houses. The people there are usually wealthy or middle class. I have never been there but I did a project in high school about the suburbs of Chicago. I remember looking up real estate for the city of Yorkville and the houses had 5-? number of bedrooms. There is also a lot of ghost stories about the town.
