how would you cope, knowing ?

i've pretty much have been given a death sentence. i've been diagnosed with the "onset of Dementia."

my grandmother passed away and an aunt will die from the disease. my lifespan is now seriously shortened.

besides putting my faith in The Lord and taking deep breaths, how would you handle the situation?

Update:

thank you one and all for taking the time to answer my question.

i don't fear death. its just another part of life.

i do fear the fact that my woman will shed tears, as i slowly become an empty shell before i go.

i saw what happened to my relatives. (R.I.P.)

i'm not gonna let it get that far. i'll know when it is time to leave this world.

and may God have Mercy upon my soul.

Well, if it were me, I'd take some time for quiet reflection on my life, figure out what I hadn't done yet that I wanted to do, and I would go out and do it. The fact, a lifetime is a lifetime, no matter how short or long it is. We have to live to the fullest because what's the point otherwise.

Get out there, do what you enjoy, be with the ones you love and just be alive. Truly alive and free. The fact is, even a healthy person can die suddenly, just from walking outside. Nothing has changed for you, not really. Everyone on this planet can be here one second and gone the next and there are always those that beat the odds of every disease. Who knows? Maybe you time isn't as short as you think.

At least, that's how I would view it.

I don't know much about neurological disorders but anytime somebody says its a death sentence get a second opinion. They might be able to treat what you got. Try holistic or natural medicine. Keep postitive. Coping is hard but its harder alone. Hopefully you have somebody to vent your feelings to and not get overwhelmed. Never let anything get to you in the meantime and stay strong.
