I accidentally offended my friend? Help!!!!!?
So my friend has a little sister who has cerebral palsy. She is REALLY sensitive to the word retarted. We were hanging out at lunch today and laughing and she tripped over a trash can and I said, "wow that trash can is retarted" just to make a laugh out of it and she got really upset and mad. What do I do?

The best thing you can do is be honest and tell her how sorry you are. Explain that you didn't mean it and you learned you have to be more sensitive to how you speak. If she is a good friend i'm sure she will understand and know that it wasn't directed at her sister and it isn't your personality to speak that way about her.
If you want to learn about cerebral palsy check out my website. I am sure your friend will be impressed with how much time you have invested to fix your comment.

Uhmm... Tell her things come out of mouths sometimes that aren't meant to be said. Tell her you didn't mean to offend her or her sister.
I don't think she should even get that sensitive, I mean, I have friends who if you say a racial term they won't flip out and ignore you, they'll say don't say that man, but they don't get upset...
Can anyone help me out? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201111...

just tell her that It was a mistake and you really didn't mean to say it, you know she doesn't like it and you wouldn't say it purposely just apologize and everything should be fine.
good luck :)
