how do i know if my car is carburetor or fuel injection?
It is a 98 1litre corsa, says 'LS' on the side and 'merit' on the v5 and 12V on the back. The engine doesn't have regular ht leads, instead there is a long plastic strip with one cable. I can't tell from the manual and i need to know what sort of redex to put in

Its a GM 0 Series engine which is 3 cylinder, multi point fuel injected. The plastic strip on the top is the coil pack, it has one ignition coil per cylinder and sits on top of the spark plugs which are in the centre of the engine between the 2 cam shafts, hence you don't need regular HT leads.

I'm pretty surprised you couldn't figure that out, what with having a PhD. You have a fuel injected engine. I'm sorry but I can't resist: "You can tell whether it is carb or EFI by opening your hood and seeing if you have a carburetor." Look up pictures of carbs on Google/Yahoo images.

Its fuel injected, as is pretty much everything on four wheels newer than 1989.
