modern day Snow White?

The seven dwarfs can be street kids who live in an abandoned house. Their daily jobs are to pick pocket and con people out of their money. They leave 'Snow White' at home because she is too inexperienced and might mess things up. One could also fear that Snow White's stepmother might have the police out looking for her and if they are seen with her, they'll be picked up and placed in homes. The poisonous apple could be any kind of poisoned food as a homeless person would be starved and gladly take food from a kind stranger. The woodland creatures, I think, are strictly Disney. I'd avoid adding them in. The hunter could just be a new hired killer whose heart isn't in the game.

This idea is a bit cliche however with a little revamping I'm sure it can turn out superb. Look more into the culture of Snow White definitely! The Disney movie isn't where Snow White began but she actually began with a gothic twist and from the Grimms Tales. Try different movies out such as:

Snow White: A Tale of Terror or Snow White and the Huntsman (how the HELL did Kristen Stewart end up in it anyway?)

But then I realized that I still had to come up with a modern day version of the seven dwarfs and the stepmother and the poison apple. I have no clue how to modernize those...

There's actually a movie out there that is a modern day Snow White tale. I think its categorized under Horror but I don't remember the name of the movie. Maybe you could try to IMDB.com it.

Bianca's mother dies and her dad marries a beautiful but cruel woman (Elizabeth) who can't stand poor Bianca and is jealous of her youth. Elizabeth is secretly having an affair with an impressionable lumberjack called Woody and persuades him to kidnap Bianca, drive her to a distant city and murder her, making it look like she ran away from home and got her throat cut in an alley by gang members. Woody kidnaps Bianca but can't go through with killing her, so he gives her some money and tells her to never go back home. Bianca ends up wandering around the city lost and frightened, before she is befriended by a kindly group of seven homeless people. So, an urban setting. Maybe the prince can be the mayor's son who volunteers at a homeless shelter and that's how he meets Bianca. You can take it from there, hope that helps!
