I bet you'll spend most of your time in the Red Light District so:
Beers will cost about €5.50 to €6 or so each, depending on the bar. The touristy ones tend to charge more, surprisingly enough. The prices for most drinks are currently high compared to the UK so you should expect to spend about double what you would at home. Most bars only sell either Heineken or Amstel, a few sell a Belgian beer called Jupiler but there's nothing much to choose between them. If you get sick of drinking lager (like I do after a few days!) there are a couple of bars in Zeedijk who sell Belgian bottled beers, and a few Irish bars sell Guinness.
You should try the local spirit, Genever, it's quite good drunk as a chaser with beer.
If you want to buy cannabis avoid the Bulldog chain, they're overpriced. Good ones are Greenhouse Effect in Warmoesstraat, Hill Street Blues (also Warmoesstraat) or Abraxas in Jonge Rolensteeg (close to Dam Square). http://www.coffeeshop.freeuk.com/index.htm
If you want to use a shop window girl their charges start at €50 for about 10 minutes. The ones with blue strip lights in the window are trannies if you're feeling adventurous.
It's worth seeing a live show in either Casa Rosso or Moulin Rouge, but avoid the Bananabar as it is very expensive - it's €40 each just to get in including as many free drinks as you like, but you have to leave after an hour, and it's another €50 for a show, although you can club together to pay for this.
There are plenty of fast food joints in the RLD, prices for a snack are about €3-€5 depending what you want. You will need change for the vending machines if you use a Febo. You can also go to the outdoor cafes in Nieuwmarkt if in the area during the day, or buy food from one of the market stalls or the 'in de Waag' restaurant there.
There are lots of restaurants in Warmoesstraat and Zeedijk but they're not really gourmet experiences. The Old Quarter in Warmoesstraat does a good breakfast. Some bars also sell food.
If you want a bit of a change, it's worth going to Leidseplein as the bars there are mostly quite good and there are a lot of eateries nearby. Rembrandtplein is similar, but a bit more sedate and upmarket.
Other sights you should try to get to:
Anne Frank House, Prinsengracht
Van Gogh Museum, Paulus Potterstraat
Rijksmuseum, Jan Luijkenstraat
Resistance Museum, Plantage Kerklaan

Sights: 5-15 euros. Coffee shops start at 8 euros a gram. Hookers at 50 euros a go. Drinks, 5-6 euros a pint. Oh, and in case you want to eat. A full english sets you back about 8-9 euros. A fast food meal about 6 euros and a simple 2 course meal 20 euros.
Sights? Yeah right. I've seen boys weeks and it's from the hostel to the bar to the coffee shop to the toilet and repeat. But, just in case. http://www.amsterdam.info/

a good inn could value you approximately 2 hundred euros a night. you could consume decent nutrition for no longer too costly. it somewhat is slightly greater costly than the U. S., exceptionally thinking the flexibility of the euro top now. Don’t omit out on the Aran Irish Pub (it’s next to the frustrating Rock Café) and the Heinekein Brewery. I don’t even like Heinekein, whether it became into outstanding there. You get 3 loose (.25liter?) beers once you do the excursion. The bar Teasers is a waste of time (it’s like Hooters yet greater costly), yet go visit the intercourse Museum and the Torture Museum. They’re basically cool!
