Piccolo Information needed?
I found a Dietrick by Pearl Piccolo in a bow of flute music that I purchased at an estate sale near St Louis. and would like to know something about it. I am not trying to sell it, but am looking for information since I know next to nothing about flute etc. Dietrick by Pearl is on the head piece. I can not locate a serial number. Until I know more, it will set on the shelf.
Is it a bargain basement instrument or something that I could give to good flute player for their use?

Determining the value of an instrument over the internet is nearly impossible. Your best bet is to take it to your local music shop and let them have a look at it (they shouldn't charge you for this service. If they do, go somewhere else). Also, if you found it at an estate sale chances are that it is an older piece and the pads are molded and need replaced, which can be very expensive. If you do decide to part with it, I'm sure there would be many musicians who would appreciate it (myself included!)

You could definately give it to a good flute player for their use. In bands, there isn't always a piccolo part, so the piccolo player has to switch to flute. Some bands/musical groups don't even own a piccolo, and lots of songs require them.
