Piccolo Information needed?

I found a Dietrick by Pearl Piccolo in a box of flute music that I purchased at an estate sale near St Louis. and would like to know something about it. I am not trying to sell it, but am looking for information since I know next to nothing about flute etc. Dietrick by Pearl is on the head piece. I can not locate a serial number. Until I know more, it will set on the shelf.

Is it a bargain basement instrument or something that I could give to good flute player for their use?

Too bad that Folkers and Powell have packed up - but there are other people who know things. Lou Carlini in Fairlawn NJ is a Pearl rep/tech. Lars Kirmser maintains DBs of serials, and has encyclopedic knowledge, as do folks like Eldred Spell. Lawrence Trott, and Phil Unger in NYC. If the Pearl logo is present, or you want to take a chance, contact the manufacturer or US distributor - betcha there is some *raisin* in the back room who knows something. Worst case - it is like a "Haynes-Schwelm" - not nearly a Haynes, just the result of deceit and malfeasance. Now - any chance this is a Db? Wood, metal, or hybrid (the word we use in polite company)? You can also go the Yahoo Groups and ask on Flutenet. This does not sound *new* enough to be a Far East knockoff, unless it was the newest thing in the box.

    If I have a minute, I will ask around . . .
