    in the adobe reader window - go to view - at the bottom of that menu is read out loud options

    activate read out loud

    choose read out loud to end of document

    You would need a text to speech software package There are several for Linux, Text to speech for windows I'm not sure about. I don't use Microsoft. Windows 7 and 8. operating systems are 10 years behind Linux.

    pdf is not a text file.

    I do not believe it will do that.

    I found a way to embed sounds into pdf files, but that is different.
