Do you mean books that were recently published that are good
and popular, or just any really good books?
Warriors-Erin Hunter
Four clans of cats live in the woods (Thunderclan the main subject of the
books, Riverclan, Windclan, and Shadowclan) living in an unsteady peace
with each other. One day, the medicine cat (one part doctor, one part
psychic) recieves a message that their clan-Thundercan- is in danger, and
only fire can save their clan. But Starclan (heaven, where the messages
come from) works in mysterious ways; "fire" is actually a Kittypet, or house
cat named Rusty (renamed Firepaw) who knows nothing of the clan's ways.
They train him as a warrior, but he is treated differently-lacking the repect of
real warriors because of his Kittypet? Read the book to find out.
First two series are good, others are meh.
The Host-Stephanie Meyer (Way better than Twilight in my opinion)
A sci-fi with a romanic twist; an alien species called souls have taken
over earth; a small worm like species that control their human hosts.
But rather than fading, Wanderer's host Melanie won't fade away; she
remains trapped in her own head unable to move as Wanda controls her body.
ut Wanda falls for Mel's boyfriend Jared, and sarts to love (motherly you sicko!)
her younger brother Jaimie. Wanda and Mel go to find them, and what she finds
is a settlement of wild humans (oh so dangerous). Read this book trust me you
won't regret it. It's one of my top favorites.
Num8ers-Racheal Ward
A girl named Jem with the ability to see when people die (111511 for example)
hovering over her head when she looks at people. It is a horrinble curse that
made her reclusive all her life, but then she falls in love with "Spider" (Terry)
who only has a month to live (even though he doesn't know it. She is determined
to save him, but when they end up on the run from cops who suspect them to be
terrorists, thy are both put in danger, can she save Spider and her own life...
bumbumbuuum! Really good, takes place in England)
Unwind-Neal Shusterman (Sci Fi)
In a world wher parents can have their children taken apart and harvested for parts,
follow three kids attempting to escape their fate. Wen they are captured, how will
they escape being unwound?
Full Tilt-Neal Shusterman (Spooky Fantasy)
The main character has always tried to live his life balanced and sanely
after a horific accident when he was younger, but when his brother is taken
to an evil amusement park, he is forced to confront his fears and memories
to save him.
Everlost-Neal Shusterman (Supernatural)
ATheres a world wheredead children go is theyu don't make it to the
light- a world in between earth and who knows where. When Nick and
Ali are hit in a surprise car crash and sent there, will
they ever find their way to live again?
Pendragon-DJ MacHale (Fantasy Adventure)
Bobby penfragon is taken to alternate worlds where
he has to stop a sadistic killer from destroying the
worlds and sending them into chaos
Cirque du Freak-Darren Shan (Spooky Fantasy)
A vampire story, but not your typical vampire story.
There are he Vampires and vampanese;while vampires
try to hunt without kiling, the vampanese ruthlessly kill their
prey, humans. They are having a war, and Darren must defeat
the leader of the vampanese to save the world. But his future is
that whoever wins -him or the Vampanese, will become a monster
who will slaghter Vampires, vapanese and humans alike;destroying
the entire world.
Animorphs-K.A. Applegate (Sci Fi) #
Gregor the Overlander-Suzanne Collins (Fantasy) #
The Hunger Games-Suzanne Collins (Dystopian Sci Fi w/ romance)

I'm not entirely sure what genre of book you're into, but I'm currently reading 'Shantaram' by Gregory David Roberts. Here's the synopsis amazon.com offers-- it doesn't quite do this amazing and beautifully written book justice, but it'll do:
Crime and punishment, passion and loyalty, betrayal and redemption are only a few of the ingredients in Shantaram, a massive, over-the-top, mostly autobiographical novel. Shantaram is the name given Mr. Lindsay, or Linbaba, the larger-than-life hero. It means "man of God's peace," which is what the Indian people know of Lin. What they do not know is that prior to his arrival in Bombay he escaped from an Australian prison where he had begun serving a 19-year sentence. He served two years and leaped over the wall. He was imprisoned for a string of armed robberies peformed to support his heroin addiction, which started when his marriage fell apart and he lost custody of his daughter. All of that is enough for several lifetimes, but for Greg Roberts, that's only the beginning.
Other books I'd recommend:
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
April & Oliver by Tess Callahan
Good luck and happy reading!
