Is EPA doing enough on firewood pollution?
Maybe a cold hard fact that you have yet to know is many people doesnt like the smell of firewood smoke. This is the basic argument here.. I am one of them. They may have respiratory issues.. I was not bothered by firewood smoke when I was young.. I am sensitive to firewood smoke of lately . As matter of factly, EPA has already begun to address the issues on firewood smoke.. They are going too slow on this . I am trying to protect my right to breath normal ambient air . I am not as concerned about your questions as about mine.. I for one stand to fight for my right.. not anyone's. It is not a popular contest ... it is a democracy.. People, rise up and stand for your beliefs.. If you are bothered by firewood smoke, please answer here.. I need your support. Dont allow anyone intimiidate you away from standing up for your rights and more importantly to create new rights .. You can do it. I have a lot to share only if you come here to join me to fight for our right to breath normal ambient air. We cannot allow those using firewood to continue to foul the air we breath.. They have a responsiblity to keep the smoke from going into the air .It is their responsiblilty..We can unite togehter and enact new laws to force them to comply under new EPA mandates .. EPA needs your feedback. You can go to EPA . gov website to find out more about firewood smoke and its hazards.. They have a brochure that you can download . It is very interesting to read.

The EPA has created standards but it is up to the local governments to choose to enforce them.
New compliant wood stoves are so much more efficient that the amount of wood needed may be half of what an older stove used, with far less emissions.

The resolution of your discomfort is an infringement on someone else's freedoms isn't it? The EPA has to be looking at far more damaging things than a wood fire. Try getting rid of the heavy metals in your computer or that oil that keeps leaching out of your car from running into the groundwater. Do you think that a BBQ with gas is better for the environment too? where do you think that comes form and how do they get it? Get a mask and stop using something like the EPA to back a minor discomfort you have. Be bothered by the smell of burning oil or the taste of polluted water in and around coal mining operations. I understand it sucks to smell something you don't like. Like BO on the subway or a train fart, but that's life right? Take take that smell next time and think that the people that are sharing that fire are happy and warm for the night, probably making good memories and sharing life with tolerance.
Check out the movie Carbonation. See what they are doing with carbon farming.

Doesn't the government already have enough control over us? Now they need to put laws on the air we breathe and the firewood we burn? Firewood smoke is completely natural and harmless, as long as you're burning dry, untreated wood. If you don't like the smell of it, don't inhale it. Or, move someplace near factories where they burn rubber and oils and paints, then go complain to the EPA. There are many things that people breathe into their lungs everyday that are worse for them than firewood smoke.

In the city I live, fireplaces must have a catalytic converter. They are available and not excessively expensive. I understand they aren't required (yet) in more rural areas.

They are doing way too much and they should be restructured to limit their reach and narrow their scope. If not simply disbanded..
The problem is they are trying to get people to quantify their usage for the imposition of carbon taxation- which is the death knell to your future prosperity. People like Al Gore are set to profit off the fraud that is carbon taxation. It is fast way to make your cost of living much more expensive.
