Will restaurants give you the recipe to their food/drinks if you ask them for it?

I wanted to ask a restaurant for a pina colada recipe and I was wondering if they would deny my request.
 
Have you ever asked a restaurant staff for a recipe? Did they give it to you or did they deny your request?

Those are trade secrets, but there are good reproduction recipes on the internet for most items. Gotta search though. Top Secret Recipes is a good place to start.

And some chains won't give out a recipe, because they don't want to reveal they use everyday common mixes, prepackaged or canned goods.

I've asked for Ranch recipes many places like Red Robin, and they politely refused. I suspect the managers aren't allowed to. Hope this helps!

Resturaunts do not give out their recipes. For example, take McDonald's, their cheese tastes different than any other cheese i have tasted ever, they must mix two different types or cheeses but still, they would never give out their recipe.
